We are excited to continue our CSA this year. CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. A CSA is a farm subscription where members pay an upfront fee in exchange for a bounty of vegetables each week. That is the textbook definition.

But being a member of our CSA means more than just receiving food each week. To us it means you are supporting two people who are learning how to farm sustainably on a small-scale, an endangered profession. It means supporting the young people who come to work for us in their endeavors to learn about farming. It means developing rich friendships with our members, a community that is excited about eating and cooking high quality food, knowing where that food comes from and how it's grown.

We like to make this an engaging and interactive experience! We will provide a weekly farm update email that includes what to expect in each week's CSA share. We will also provide recipes including the veggies you receive in your share. Finally, we hope to have regular events including a potluck in the beginning and end of the season, in addition to the farm's regular house concerts, May Day gathering, and other fun things! We encourage everyone to come visit the farm, make requests about what you want us to grow, and learn about our farming practices (more on that here)!

We are willing to work with those with financial obstacles or limitations. Please, contact us if you are interested!

*It's important to note that by reserving your CSA membership you are agreeing to our member agreement (click on it to read) acknowledging the risk involved in farming due to unpredictable weather events and other issues beyond our control.

We will be offering a 3 CSA options this year and add-ons. We hope our offerings work for all who are interested and we are open to working with those with limited financial means. Click here for our online store. *This year we will be charging a fee for online purchases of CSAs and market credit to cover our merchant fees. Alternatively, you may send us an email to hold your place and confirm your CSA or Credit purchase, and mail a check payable to Sugar Camp Farm to

The Whole Share ($750, May-October, 24 weeks):

Our CSA Share is about a half-bushel of food, enough to feed a small family, a veggie-loving couple, or an ambitious individual every week. We will include 7-13 different types of staple veggies and we will add in some fun items like foraged and planted edible and decorative flowers, unusual veggies, and fruit on occasion. Check out our Vegetables page for more info on what to expect each season. The CSA will start some time in May, once the garden gets going. You will receive $25-$40 worth of vegetables every week averaging to about $35 a week. You'll tend to get a little less in the spring and fall and a lot more during the bountiful summer. In addition, you can expect to get 10% off our market booth before and after the CSA ends or if you are purchasing additional produce.

WHOLE SHARE AVAILABILITY BY PICK-UP DAY AND LOCATION:
Mondays, Nicky's Coal Fired back parking lot 5:30-7pm
Thursdays, Vanderbilt Farmers Market, 1:30-5:30pm
Saturdays, Richland Park Farmers Market, 9am-12:30pm

THE HALF SHARE: $425, a share every other week from May-October (12 shares total).

The main difference here is just receiving a share every other week instead of every week. You will receive $25-$40 worth of vegetables every week but averages to about $35 a week. In addition, you can expect to get 10% off our market booth before and after the CSA ends or if you are purchasing additional produce.

Mondays, Nicky's Coal Fired back parking lot 5:30-7pm

Market Credit CSA: Year-Round. Pre-purchase the amount you like.

We reward you with a 10% bonus credit as a thank you for your investment in our farm. Shop any time at our farmer's market location or CSA pick up in Sylvan Park on Mondays.

This is an excellent option for those who need more flexibility. It's ideal, for example, for those who travel a lot during the summer. With the Market Credit CSA membership you pre-purchase credit (like a gift card for yourself) to spend at our market location and our CSA pick up on Monday. We immediately tack on a 10% bonus credit to your purchase as a thank you for investing in our business. For instance, if you purchase $100 worth of credit you get $110 worth of credit. This credit is good at our Market Stand on Saturdays at Richland Park Farmers Market and at CSA pick up, on Mondays at Nicky's Coal Fired and at on Thursdays at the Vanderbilt Farmers Market. You can purchase anything we have at our stand including veggies, herbs, flowers, bread, and meat. The beauty of this system is that you get more than your money's worth, you can use the credit whenever you want, and your credit rolls over from season to season. Email us if you have further questions about this option, sugarcampfarmtn@gmail.com

A few notes. We will likely take a short break (2-4 weeks) from the CSA in August and/or September. We've found that having some extra time for fall planting and prep is much needed around this time in order to make your fall baskets excellent. Our past CSA surveys tell us you all would enjoy a short break as well. You will still receive 24 weeks of produce.

There are certain items that we do not grow due to space restrictions (sweet corn), time constraints (beans (we will grow beans but not as many as we have in the past) and because they are a long term perennial crop that we are currently or will be establishing (asparagus, raspberries, blueberries, other perennials). We will however offer these products when available from other farms that we trust at wholesale prices or as an addition to your CSA basket.

As part of the "community" part of the CSA, we are asking for your help this year. We are striving to earn some more time for ourselves especially in the summer when we work up to 80 hours a week to deliver fresh produce to you. We will be doing less washing of our produce this year. We still promise quality and will certainly hydrocool (cool with water) those items that would otherwise wilt, but we ask for your assistance cleaning your own share.
